We have now left our excellent camp at Port Douglas behind and we are now in Cooktown, having spent 1 night at the Lions Den pub in the bush, 30k out of Cooktown. We have good phone & internet here but I don't think we will have anything until Weipa, about 600k away, so I am catching up now while I can. We will probably be here another day or 2.
Lunch stop on the Byerstown range.
Passing through Lakeland.
The Endevour river from grassy hill.
Some live entertainment at the Lions Den pub.
The crystal clear swimming spot behind the pub & beside the camp.
A giant snake skin at the pub.
Cooktown
A working cannon in the park at Cooktown is fired every year at the landing re enactment.
Amazing that you are not even allowed to own an airgun in Australia, but a working giant cannon is just fine.
