Port Douglas to Cooktown

We have now left our excellent camp at Port Douglas behind and we are now in Cooktown, having spent 1 night at the Lions Den pub in the bush, 30k out of Cooktown. We have good phone & internet here but I don't think we will have anything until Weipa, about 600k away, so I am catching up now while I can. We will probably be here another day or 2.

Lunch stop on the Byerstown range.

A giant snake skin at the pub.

Cooktown

A working cannon in the park at Cooktown is fired every year at the landing re enactment.

Amazing that you are not even allowed to own an airgun in Australia, but a working giant cannon is just fine.
